Modern Marketing is now even more dynamic with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Veronica Lind sheds light on how AI works for marketing.
MBF Event: 16th August 2023 "How to use AI for Marketing"
Veronica Lind, President of Micro Business Forum, wears many hats and she is also Business and Marketing Strategist of Vermilion Pinstripes, and CEO of Brilliant-Online. Throughout her career, technology has always been a powerful resource to achieve business objects and gain happy results. You can bet she's the one to go to if you have been wondering what's all this talk about AI and marketing!
For micro business owners, using AI may sound like that's something for the Big Boys. Thing is, AI is a tool, like any other, and we can take what's relevant and useful for our business, and let it help us to make our marketing more effective and efficient.
Why AI and Marketing?
AI in marketing refers to the use of artificial intelligence techniques and technologies to enhance different aspects of marketing strategies and activities. Marketers can analyse large amounts of data, automate tasks, and gain valuable insights to optimise marketing campaigns, improve customer experiences, and achieve better business outcomes.
This not only saves time and improves efficiency but also allows marketers to focus on strategic decision-making and unleash their creativity.
By harnessing the power of AI, marketers can gain a deeper understanding of their target audience, make data-driven decisions, and deliver more relevant and impactful marketing messages. AI empowers marketers to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape and create meaningful HUMAN connections with their customers.
Where should I begin?
ChatGPT is a text based AI developed by OpenAI and Microsoft. There's a free version 3.5 ChatGPT and a paid version 4 which is faster with more features and advancements for $20/month. Note the free version is on a server with information up to 2021. Why not try out the free version, have a go, and see how you feel about it? You can book a call with Veronica if you are interested to start incorporating AI using ChatGPT into your marketing.
How does AI do all that?
It can be trained.
AI is a model that can be trained. To do that, a large dataset of existing marketing content e.g. product descriptions, social media posts, email campaigns are fed into it. This dataset serves as the material for the AI model to learn patterns, grammar, style and language use.
It can predict.
You've heard it said often that AI can predict. No, it doesn't have a crystal ball. What it has is text generation algorithms, such as recurrent neural networks (RNNs) or transformers, which have been trained on vast amount of text data. These algorithims are what allow the AI model to predict and generate coherent sequences of words based on the input and desired output.
It can customise.
AI can be designed to understand and employ context and customisation. They can consider variables like target audience, tone of voice, specific product features, or marketing objectives in order to generate specific, tailored content.
It can improve.
AI likes feedback. Humans can evaluate and rate the generated content, providing feedback to AI. This helps the model to learn and improve over time, producing more accurate and relevant marketing content.

Using AI wisely
Even useful tools can create problems if they are not understood well or misused. A lot of hesitation about AI comes from not really understanding it well, and not knowing how to use it wisely. There are simple things businesses can do to ensure AI becomes their help and not an impediment.
Use output as suggestion not gospel
Always personalise your content
Add the human personal touch
Be vigilant about data privacy and security
Combine AI with your expertise to up your game
Focus on building relationships with your customers, understanding their problems and providing solutions which AI can't do
