MBF President Update September 2026

I’d like to start by welcoming everyone to the new MBF Committee, to welcome back familiar faces and to welcome aboard some new faces.
I have to say that when I joined MBF all those years ago, I had no idea that I would end up as President – thank you Veronica – and certainly not run for a second year. All I was looking for was some help with my new business and making new friends. I can confidently say that I have found both of those with MBF.
I think that all too often we don’t give ourselves the credit we are due, we hide our lights under a bushel, we feel that we are not capable of things and that’s what I love so much about MBF, not only is it the friendliest group in Port Macquarie, but everyone has your back, they can see things in you that you don’t see yourself, members will guide each other, give support and allow you to grow in a non-judgemental environment. In the years I have been with MBF I have seen shy people find their voice, grow in confidence and blossom in ways that I don’t think even they believed was possible.
That’s what I want for this coming year, for members to feel welcome, supported, to be able to grow in confidence and spread their wings, in what I feel sure is going to be a challenging year, maybe even years ahead. Running your own micro business can be a very lonely place and it’s good to have people around you who can understand the challenges that you face, they are facing them too. But maybe they have a different take on things, a way round a problem, a skill that could help you as well. Or it may be simply someone you can debrief with, have a friendly chat over a cup of coffee, or something stronger if that’s what’s needed!
I believe that we have a strong foundation for all of this at MBF. Based on the hard work of members who have gone before, the current members, and with the new members who are answering the call and stepping up. We all have something to offer, and I think that that’s wonderful.
So, here’s to the next 12 months, to friendship, support and meeting whatever challenges life and work are bound to throw at us. To quote the Irish “As you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never point the wrong way”. Thank you, Ladies, for your support, encouragement and commitment.
