Lee Grigg has an inspiring story to share! Before smartphones and tablets became common in schools and homes, she worked as a casual teacher. After taking an eight-year break to be a stay-at-home mum, Lee returned to teaching. What she found shocked her. The classrooms had changed dramatically!
Observations in High Schools
In high schools, Lee noticed several concerning trends:
Students were no longer playing sports on the oval.
Girls were sitting together, but most were glued to their phones.
Boys were either playing video games on their phones or watching others play.
Literacy levels had dropped significantly.
There was a noticeable decline in respect for teachers.
Students' mental health appeared to be deteriorating.
Observations in Primary Schools
Lee's observations in primary schools were equally alarming:
Students seemed more distracted than ever.
Literacy levels were also on the decline.
Many students frequently disregarded instructions.
Engagement in classroom activities was lower.
Respect for teachers was waning.
In just eight years, Lee realised that phones and devices had changed everything! This revelation sparked her deep concern about the impact of screens on children.
Introducing ScreenStrong
In January 2023, Lee discovered ScreenStrong and became a qualified Ambassador in August 2024.
ScreenStrong is dedicated to empowering families to prevent screen addiction. It helps reclaim children from problematic screen use, which includes social media, video games, and pornography. The solutions offered are not about being screen-free; instead, they focus on replacing toxic screen time with healthy activities, life skill development, and meaningful family connections.
Lee's Mission as a ScreenStrong Ambassador
As a ScreenStrong Ambassador, Lee is passionate about educating our community on the harmful effects of toxic screens on children's brains. She conducts presentations that cover:

Preventative measures we can take.
Practical solutions for families.
Lee's target audience includes parents, grandparents, teachers, schools, coaches, community leaders, and home school groups. She believes that everyone plays a role in protecting our children from the negative impacts of screens.
